What readers are saying

I read this book in one evening, the same day I got it. It was absolutely addictive, and so well thought out. I wasn’t entirely sure where it was going at the beginning, but there were so many surprises and twists along the way that it had me on the edge of my seat. This is one of my new favorite books, and I love it so much. I highly recommend it!

Unborn

Book I of The Dark World Series

What reviewers are saying

Eva Barber’s Unborn tells a tale that feels like a dreamy collision of family bonds, mystery, and the tug of destiny.

Unborn is an atmospheric and thought-provoking read for anyone who enjoys stories about family, identity, and the intersection of science and the fantastical. Fans of speculative fiction with a strong emotional core, think The Midnight Library meets The Giver, will find much to love here. It’s a slow burn, but one worth savoring.

                                           LITERARY TITAN

Eva Barber’s Unborn is an ambitious and emotional read that fuses speculative science with myth, family drama, and a meditation on destiny. Rather than relying on standard genre tropes, Barber builds a layered narrative that questions what it means to belong, to choose, and to sacrifice.

Bold, thought-provoking, and deeply humane, Unborn is a standout work of speculative fiction that lingers long after the final page.

The Gift

Book II of The Dark World Series

What reviewers are saying

The writing surprised me. It has a dreamlike quality in places, flowing almost like waves, then suddenly crashing into moments of raw grit and pain. The descriptions of the void, of light turning into memory, of bodies disintegrating and reforming, made me pause and reread because they were so vivid. But then the author would drop Emery into the dirt, into hunger and thirst, into stumbling mistakes, and it grounded everything.

                                           LITERARY TITAN

The Gift is a genre-bending blend of science fiction, fantasy, and metaphysical adventure, perfect for readers who enjoy character-driven journeys, time travel, and philosophical explorations of love, purpose, and destiny. Think “The Time Traveler’s Wife” meets “Interstellar”, with a touch of spiritual myth. It’s beautifully written and emotionally charged, ideal for fans of romantic sci-fi, cosmic or multiverse fiction, and stories where imagination meets heart.

                                             LIKELY STORY

What readers are saying

Emery’s journey through the dark dimension is intense, emotional, and full of unexpected twists. The world-building is fascinating, especially the contrast between harsh, primitive survival and unsettling advanced technology.

Gripping, atmospheric, and emotionally intense—Barber deepens the mystery with vivid imagery and haunting twists. Fans of supernatural suspense will appreciate the layered storytelling and strong female lead. Expect a dark journey with secrets that linger.

Brilliant Genesia

Book III of The Dark World Series

What reviewers are saying

I’d recommend Brilliant Genesia most to readers who like speculative sci-fi with a dystopian spine, especially if you enjoy stories that start intimate and then swing wide into big-idea territory (time experiments, parallel lives, and moral battles over what “progress” means). If you want a neat, single-lane plot, the genre shift might feel like whiplash. But if you like ambitious sci-fi that’s still rooted in family bonds and anger at unjust systems, you’ll enjoy this story. And if you’re the kind of reader who finishes a book and immediately wants to talk it through with someone, it gives you a lot to think about.

What readers are saying

It was with great pleasure that I binge-read this latest offering from Eva Barber, third in her Dark World Series, starting with Unborn, The Gift, and now Brilliant Genesia. Her heroine is likable, her characters complex and well-developed, and the plot line unpredictable. Not only is this page-turner an engaging piece of entertainment, but it also makes the reader want to start again with Unborn and work their way back through all three back to back.

Such a page-turner. I haven’t read the other 2 in the series and was happy to see it wasn’t required. Although now I definitely want to read the first 2. The author does a great job at character building and really makes you connect with them. The plot is super interesting and kept me guessing the whole time. An unpredictable plot and many turns. It’s a binge-worthy read, and I highly recommend it.
